Colour Grading

When colour grading I want to make an image as vibrant as it possibly can be. The story starts with the first image you see, it sets the scene and something visually exciting can hook the viewer to the story.

What is my node structure?

I work with a specific node process on Davinci Resolve for my projects. Node 1 focuses on the contrast of the image. Node 2 Saturation, Node 3 Exposure adjustments, Node 4 Colour curve adjustments to any colour that is currently peaking, Node 4 adding a specific tone to the image whether warm, cold or a more neutral feel. Node 5 will make any adjustments to the lift of the image. Node 6 will focus on the highlights of the image and the final Node focuses on the offset of the image. Any further changes needed to a shot such as enhancing specific objects or toning down peaking elements I use separate nodes for. To do this I track the elements with a mask and make colour adjustments from there.

After this process I can match every shot by grabbing a still of a grade inside Davinci Resolve and from this I can use the still as a basis to go off when grading other shots in the scene.
